Gay men, Estonian Brides, Me in trunks, Jawhol 15th August 2005 in Brighton, United Kingdom

I went with some friends down to Brighton this weekend. It was much nicer getting there this time than the last. When I went on the train last time there was a gay pride parade going on in Brighton and the train was packed with loud people in dubious outfits and men in dreadlocks trying to play spin-the-bottle with me and my loved ones. This time we drove down in Norris' Lexus which was about 1000 times better.

We went swimming in the English Channel which was the first time I had been swimming in years. It was really nice and refreshing. The only downside is the beach is made up of heaps of tiny rocks at the shore which are really painful to walk on.

Anja and I rented Eurotrip this weekend which is the funniest movie I've seen in ages. It accurately depicts the life of a backpacker in Europe better than anything I've seen before. There was an extra on the DVD called "The best youth hostel in Amsterdam", absolutely class.

I got 18 days to learn as much Estonian and Russian as possible for my trip to Tallinn. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to speak any of the two languages though. In Berlin, people were adamant about speaking in English; you'd have to point a gun at them to get a simple "Jawhol".

My friend Norris rang up his brother at a get-together on friday and had a conversation with him in English over a speaker phone so everyone could hear and understand. At one point his brother mentioned that he'd take me to all the best clubs in Estonia and perhaps I would find a bride there and spend the rest of my days living in Estonia. My wife wasn't to pleased to hear this :-)
