Winter in Canada 9th February 2006 in Calgary, Canada

Anja and I have been spending the last week here in Banff, Calgary and Edmonton, Canada. After being away so long I can really appreciate how beautiful it is here. My hometown has changed quite a bit since I left, mostly for the better.

We went out Skiing on Saturday and some Croatian on the ski hill saw me in my German Army Jacket and began telling me his life story in German. He had failed to notice I was in great pain after wiping out on a black diamond run. I hurt my back, hips and right hand while trying to slow down on a steep slope but I’m recovering well now.

We flew up to Edmonton the other day and they installed satellite tv in everyone’s seat. I can’t believe a cheap airline would do such a thing. Air Canada looks really shit in comparison now.

Even with the weakened British pound everything here is quite cheap. I took my Mother and Anja out to a really nice restaurant and the whole meal came to 23 quid.

My Aunt took us out to a German restaurant yesterday. Anja got to chat to the owners for a bit. One had been stationed near her hometown when he was in the military and the other lived about 80KM from Anja’s Parent’s place. It was funny to watch the owners yelling in German in the restaurant, calling each other strange pet names and have all the Canadian customers starring at them in confusion.

I attached a little over 50 photos to this blog, I hope you enjoy them.
