Exploring Barcelona, photos with foreigners and shite buskers 3rd February 2002 in Barcelona, Spain


Today I woke up and went to Casa Battlo. I got some excellent photos of the place. Afterword I walked down La Ramblas, met Tanya at the backapckers and we went and had a really posh meal. We ended up sitting on the outside on the terrace eating our meal and watching Barcelona walk by. Afterword we walked down to the beach and sat there watching the sun go down. We were looking at the Mediterrain in an easterly direction so we watched the sky and the sea go from light blue to a beautiful darker blue without the red of the sun reflecting. Some Arab-looking man speaking French came up and took a photo with us. I can imagine the photo of this man with us on either side being shown on CNN. Afterword we went to McDonalds, got two McFlurrys and walked up and down La Ramblas. There are a lot of side shows on La Ramblas, one of the more common is one where people stand really still, trying to look like statues. Some are pretty good but there are others, like the one we saw today, were is was a regular man holding a mobile phone or the japanese tourist that just stood still with a hat out. I hate people that do nothing and ask for money, they should at least work in tech support. We ended up sitting underneath a statue in the center of a roundabout, talking and watching people drive by. We got to be up earily tomorrow, out flight leaves at 11:30am.

Barcelona has been very satifying, expecially for a non-english speaking country. It was very inexpensive, easy to get around, relatively safe, the food tasted wonderful and it was 20C everyday!
